    The favourable conditions for the growth and production of rice are :

    i) Temperature : General temperature for growth of rice ranges approximately from 20℃ – 30℃ but extreme temperature will hamper its production.

    ii) Rainfall : Sufficient water is needed for production of rice and thus a rainfall of 150-200 cm is required.

    iii) Land : Rice requires extensive plains and lowlands for its growth. On hills and mountains, rice is grown on terraces.

    iv) Soil : Rice grows best in

    fertile clayey and alluvial soil.
