India has the second largest pharmaceutical market in the world, with more than $10 billion in sales. The pharma industry employs over 12% of India’s workforce and accounts for 6% of its GDP.

1. Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences
Located in Udupi, Karnataka, MCOPS is a pharmacy institute with over 2000 students and more than 230 teaching faculty.

TNDMU’s School of Pharmacy has been ranked as one of the best colleges in India by the Pharmacy Magazine.
It offers a 4-year Bachelor of Pharmacy degree and a 2-year Master of Pharmacy degree, with a faculty house providing its students access to over 200 senior professors. The campus also features a library, computer lab, dispensary and lecture halls.

3. Jamia Hamdard University
JHU is a pharmacy university located in New Delhi, with over 7500 students and more than 250 teaching staff. It is known world-wide for its research and was one of the first Indian universities to receive United States patents.
Upon successful completion of their degree, students are awarded a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B Pharm) degree and are eligible to sit for the national licensing examination conducted by PSIBC.

4. KLE University
KLEU’s School of Pharmacy was established in 1999 and has been ranked as one of the best colleges in India by NIRF 2018. It offers a 4-year B Pharm and 2-year postgraduate Master of Pharmacy degree and is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.
The college has an intake of 60 students with six different elective subjects to choose from, including Pharmaceutics, Drug Development Technology, Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy.
KLE University is the only pharmacy institute in India to offer this course at undergraduate level.

5. Dr D Y Patil Vidyapeeth
Located in Pune, Maharashtra, this college offers a 5-year B Pharm & M Pharma degree. It was founded in 2010 and is currently home to about 612 students.
The institute has an excellent track record of placements with its graduates employed by major pharmaceutical companies.

While Indian colleges are advancing rapidly in the pharma sector, it is not reflected in their ranking. Pharmaceutical education across India lacks uniformity and coordination due to which Indian pharmacies struggle to compete with global standards.
